CHEETAHS SHINE
We are glad that the Usher Cheetahs have done the school proud in the 2010 athletics season which just passed. The cheetahs had their first assignment at Mazowe High school for the Salvation Army Schools Association competitions on the 20th of February 2010. The girls did as expected as they managed to scoop entirely everything on the table against Bradley High School and Howard High School. The team came first on the overall positions.
The second hurdle was the Inter Schools held at Sikhathini Secondary School were the team came third and 30 of the girls made it into the cluster team and 8 made it into the District team and represented Bululima District at Falcon College. As the mountains kept increasing in number so were the girls. Only 3 made it into the Provincial team, that is, Media Hokoza, Sibongile Tembo and Hazel Ncube. These had the privilege to represent Matabeleland South Province in Kwekwe at the NASH National Athletics competition on the 29-30th March 2010.
HAZEL SCOOPS GOLD
The ever impressive cheetah does Matabeleland South Province and Usher proud by scooping the under 20 girls triple jump gold medal at Schools National Athletics Championships recently held in Kwekwe at the prestigious Kwekwe High school. She is usually described by her coach as the sprinting cheetah and floating gazelle. She also got a bronze medal in Long jump event. ‘its been a long wait for this to finally happen as I missed it in 2006 as an under 16 in Mutare at the same competition. It is so touching because finally the efforts my coach have paid off”
PROSPER NDLOVU GETS SPORTS TOP JOB
2010 ushers in a new champion and leader in the sporting fratenity, Mr Prosper Ndlovu a renowned soccer fannatic begins a new year on a good note. He assumes the position of the school sports director, taking over from Mr Eugine Mtandavari who had served in the department for 3 years. The school hopes that Mr Ndlovu will take Usher to new hieghts in the sporting fraternity before he steps down eventually. He however has promised to do the best he can to raise the flag of Usher very high.
2010 BALL GAMES ON THE ROADSHOW
THE 2010 SPORTS CALENDER FIESTA GALO RESUMES VERY SOON WITH VARIOUS SPORTING DISCIPLINES IN A SERIOUS APPROACH TO GO VERY FAR. THE TEAMS ARE PRACTISING SERIOUSLY AND THE GIRLS DETERMINED TO SHOW ZIMBABWE WHAT THEY ARE MADE OFF
FROM THE EVIDENCE GATHERED BY THE NEWS TEAM, VARIOUS DISCIPLINES ARE REALLY PRACTISING TIRELESSLY AND HOPING THAT THEIR EFFORTS WILL PAY OFF COME TERM 2 IN MAY. THE VOLLEYBAL DOLPHINS WERE SEEN EVEN PRACTISING ON WEEKENDS AND ALSO THE BASKETBALL RAIDERS.
INDEED THE 2010 BALL GAMES SEASON WILL BE A SHOW STOPPA
